They must understand the verbal and non-verbal cues in order to know what their client needs, this is especially true for those who suffered strokes, dealing with mental disabilities like dementia, and physical disability (deaf-mute).
The Communications with Special Needs Course focuses on understanding how different kinds of conditions affect a client’s communication skills as well as focus on how healthcare workers should talk to their clients by using different techniques based on the type of condition a client has.
